Puerto Rico
Claro
I will tell you a little story. Began in 1493 when Christopher Columbus arrived and colonized this territory of the United States. Located in the northeast Carribean Sea and approximately 1600 km southeast Miami, Florida, Puerto Rico means also 'The rich port', in Spanish. Placed between the Dominican Republic and the US Virgin Islands,
Puerto Rico or briefly Called Porto Rico includes the main island and several smaller ones, Mona, Culebra, and Vieques.
As colonized by Spain, the main language spoken on the island is Spanish in a percentage of 90% and 10% English. The local people that are living there also called Puerto Ricans, have been citizens of the United States since 1917. They enjoy freedom between the main island of the United States and their land. Also, being just a territory incorporated in the United States, they do not have some benefits as other states. But they do not pay federal taxes, which makes a lower cost of living for the inhabitants of Puerto Rico.
In 2017 hurricane Maria and Jose made landfall in this area causing devastating damage. The biggest effect of this hurricane was the electrical grid. The whole island's electrical grid was destroyed and made the largest power outage in American history. Recovery was slow in the slow months and also tourists were doubtful in the months after it regarding visiting Puerto Rico.
